White Collar 4x09
Sep. 12th, 2012 09:47 pmA little late reacting to this episode thanks to homework that had to be done.
I've been waiting for this episode all season since I'd been reading references to in articles way back in July.
- A mysterious locket with a key in it? This feels a little too similar to the music box plot to me.
- Elizabeth and Mozzie understand Peter and Neal better than Peter and Neal understand themselves.
- I wish Peter wouldn't jump to conclusions about what Neal is doing. I can kind of understand why it'd be easy to jump to conclusions, though.
- I love it when Neal refers to his aliases as though they're separate people.
- Neal giving the insider trading dude info from the FBI investigation probably doesn't help when it comes to Peter's trust.
- I love that Neal says he charged the flowers to Peter's credit card. And Peter doesn't even seem to care.
- I wish Peter would just confront Neal about what Elizabeth saw. This whole mess would be avoided if they just talked.
- The preparing-for-the-rigged-boxing-match thing is a lot of fun except for how I know it's going to end in tears. But it is cute seeing them practice, and Neal's reaction when he finds out Peter is going to be rigged to win.
- Still finding Sam very suspicious. At this point, I don't think he's the real Sam at all. It's too convenient that his file doesn't have a picture.
- And seriously, I know Neal has a bad track record when it comes to his judgment in times of crisis. But as someone who's built a career around conning people and pretending to be someone he isn't, you'd think he'd be more careful about accepting people at face value. But at this point, I think he's desperate.
- Does anyone else find Sam's call to Neal a bit odd? Peter was pretty clear that Neal didn't send him, so why is Sam acting like he thinks Neal did send him? Does he honestly believe that Neal sold him out, or was he lying?
- I love Mozzie and Jones being the ring men.
- Mozzie gives good advice. He's been especially reasonable lately.
- Neal looks downright murderous.
- Not surprised that Peter managed to win, anyway.
- I wonder -- did someone really trash Sam's place, or did he stage it to look like that happened? I'm not trusting anything that happens with Sam right now.
- I have to say, I'm mostly on Neal's side, here. I think he was trying to do the right thing and keep his word to Peter. I don't blame him for being upset. And I think Peter tried, too, but I think he also understands that Neal has a reason to be upset.
- Even though I hate seeing Peter and Neal at odds, I actually liked their confrontation a lot. I think because in the end, it was very honest and direct. This is too personal for Neal, and he couldn't really put on an act like he has at times in the past.
- This whole episode could be called "Trust Issues."
- I'm not counting on them being "done" for very long, though. They're obviously going to be communicating again to some extent by next week....
- I wonder what's going to go down next week. There's always some twist for the summer finale.
- I've seen speculation that "Sam" is actually Neal's father, and I've considered that myself. It seems like it could be plausible. But would they reveal that next week? We still have six episodes after the break.
- I'm sad the summer finale is coming up. And I'm sad I probably won't have my new glasses by then. I've had a thing this past month of trying to predict if I'd get them in time for the next episode, but the back-ordered frames have thwarted me. Guess I'll have to wait a while longer to see the TV screen clearly. Hmph.
