White Collar 5x05
Nov. 14th, 2013 10:05 pmI haven't been feeling well, so this was a nice treat tonight. The main plot in this episode was all right. I loved the premise, but the execution wasn't extremely exciting to me. However, there were a lot other things going on that were a lot of fun.
- LOL at Mozzie wanting to create a bee colony on Neal's terrace. Poor Neal--now that Mozzie lost his safe houses, Mozzie is using Neal's apartment for more and more things.
- If it's Mozzie, I'm sure it has something to do with wine.
- Having beehives would actually be cool, but maybe not right next to your door, or in the space where you like to eat breakfast. It could kind of put a damper on things to have bees buzzing nearby while you're trying to read the paper.
- I love that Neal reconsiders when he thinks that a beehive would be a good hiding place. Yeah, I can't imagine the FBI being too quick to search a beehive.
- Sexy times at the Burke house. I love how Satchmo is waiting by the bathroom door.
- Elizabeth, baseball is sexy to Peter.
- I can totally see Peter as the type who'd be convinced he won't get sick.
- Neal has mastered showing up at the Burkes' home, so now he's showing up on their morning walks.
- Interesting that we see Elizabeth selling art. Aside from the brief mention a while back that she was thinking of working part-time at the Diarmitt gallery again, there hasn't been much about whether she's still doing gallery work or not.
- Also, some interesting backstory for Elizabeth in this episode. I can see her doing a lot of traveling when she was younger.
- I could've sworn there was a reference to a Mortensen mortgage fraud case in another episode, too. Was it recent? Is it the same case?
- I'm sure Neal would much rather buttle than work on a mortgage fraud case.
- Don't get me wrong, I love the show, but I'm always kind of amused when they take on cases like this where there's no real evidence of a crime, and no one related to the case is asking for an investigation. I can't see an actual FBI office using resources to investigate something like this. Still, it's fun. And WC isn't exactly the height of realism.
- Neal looks very nice in the butler uniform.
- Fake Patrick is suspicious with how he just repeats stories or their friendship to Elizabeth. Uh, dude, she was there. Why would you be telling her all that stuff if you weren't trying to convince her you're for real? He doesn't even repeat it casually, like, "Oh, hey, remember that time we...." He's just repeating anecdotes!
- Elizabeth is a bit flirty with Neal, complimenting his look.
- Poor Peter. He's so sick. And Jones is harsh, quarantining him in his office. I don't blame Jones, though. He may be blunt, but he's right--Peter looks like a biohazard.
- I love Peter stretched out on the couch with Satchmo.
- Even though Neal is suspicious of Fake Patrick, he sounds intrigued when he asks him about how he eluded authorities for all those years. A teenager who can hide for years has got to be Neal's kindred spirit. Maybe he and the real Patrick can talk and compare evasion strategies later.
- LOL at Peter not wanting to eat stuff he can't pronounce.
- Poor guy, watching while Neal shows off his PDA technique on Elizabeth. Maybe he feels left out?
- Of course Mozzie went and got three beehives for Neal's terrace. Wow, that buzzing is loud. Don't bees sleep at night? I love Mozzie's beekeeper suit. Neal's going to have to get one of his own.
- I love how Mozzie has taken to making strange drugs and remedies. How long until he starts selling them? Mozzie is probably smart enough to make stuff that's relatively safe, but I'm still not sure I'd trust anything of his.
- Also, he always adds extra features. Like the stimulant last week. And now, the "performance-enhancing" ingredient in Peter's flu remedy. Mozzie probably can't imagine that a suit could satisfy Elizabeth. Poor Peter finds Mozzie's interest in his sex life gag-worthy.
- I'm a little surprised Peter agrees to take the remedy. I guess he's desperate!
- Sneaky of Neal to have the legal papers sent to Peter. Does he expect Peter to be willing to open someone else's mail? Luckily for Neal, Elizabeth doesn't have a problem with it.
- And Elizabeth gets fired for trying to help. Considering the loyal family butler got fired, she shouldn't be too surprised. Though, what was she still doing for them? Were they buying more art for Fake Patrick?
- Yay! Peter's doing better! Not sure I'd attribute it to Mozzie's remedy, though.
- Peter looks very dangerous and gangster-like with slicked-back hair.
- I love this con on Fake Patrick. It serves him right, stealing someone's identity.
- Very nice of Peter, to let Neal play with his new car. Neal isn't much of a car guy, but he can always appreciate nice things.
- Neal is so taking advantage of the opportunity to drive Peter's car. And yeah, right, being a fake butler totally makes him qualified for this. I wonder what would happen if Neal damaged the car.
- Kinda wish there was more information about the real Patrick. His story is really interesting.
- At last, Peter is well enough to get back to business with Elizabeth. See? Baseball metaphors are sexy to him. Maybe he can still enjoy a bit of an edge from Mozzie's performance-enhancing drugs.
- But the biggest question is, how is the bee colony doing?
- And in the promo for next week, we get a nice shot of Neal's bare ankle! And more Rebecca!
