...but I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year.

I'd sworn NaNo off a couple years ago because frankly, I'm not that motivated by wordcount-based writing challenges and I'm not that fast of a writer. But a friend asked me to go to the local kick-off party with her and I didn't really want to go if I wasn't going to participate. And with my new job, I've gotten out of sync when it comes to writing, so doing NaNo seemed like a good way of trying to develop a writing routine.

So far, things aren't going all that great. I managed to bang out 2000 words on the first day, but haven't gotten much done so far. Work was crazy last week, and I was planning to use the past couple days as my catch-up days, but I've been stressed out and not doing that great due to non-writing reasons.

I'm going to hang in there, though. I think it's highly unlikely that I'll win, but this has been a good excuse to start the novel that I've been wanting to work on for months.

The only bad thing is that this means that my WC WIPs are on hold at the moment. I'd wanted to get more slavefic posted before November started, but oh well. In the coming weeks, I'll see how serious I am about trying to win NaNo. If I decide to do things more casually, maybe I'll get some other writing done, too.

Well I signed up for it as well, even though I hate it. The only reason I decided to sign up for it was so there was a reminder in my email box once in a a while to take the time to write. I am out of town for work and then family this month so there is no way I am hitting the word count, but I really don't care. It's fine with me.

Yeah, I don't think I'll make it to 50k, either, and honestly, I think I'll enjoy the process more if I don't stress out too much over doing so. At this point, it's more important to me to keep up a steady writing momentum since my new job has thrown things out of whack so much.

Good luck with your story!

Don't stress yourself :-)

Remember: you never loose, you either win or learn something...

And I would like some WC slave fics, so i will be waiting patiently...

I'm doing mini-wrimo again this year, which... I have mixed feeling about. I set a very low-key goal (150 minimum a day), but that doesn't change the fact that some days writing is more convenient than other days when it's really not.

It's a pity there isn't a "half-NanoWrimo" or something, with a maximum like 25k... that I could probably do. Oh well...

Good luck with your writing and we'll be looking forward to your WC fics when you have the time for them :)

Hey, if you're realistic with yourself, you can use it (NaNo) any damn way you like. I once 'lost' in a month where I wrote 35K, which led to three fics being finished. So, roll with it, and tame the stress as much as possible (which I think is the biggest lesson of NaNo)...
