It's been ages since I posted on here, and I kinda miss it. So I thought I would post an update here. I'm pretty sure I still have crossposting set up with LJ, and I don't really feel inclined to turn it off right now, but I haven't really been using LJ except for reading old kink memes. I want to start using my DW more, though.
So, a brief update:
- Fandom-wise, I'm mainly into X-Men at the moment. I'd been sort of into the movieverse for a while but not really fannish about it, and then last year I dived headfirst into the movieverse fandom and started getting into the comics. I'm a little sad that there doesn't seem to be more of an active community on DW at the moment, because I'd love to have more people to chat and talk fic with.
Otherwise, I'm still into Lucifer and am really excited that Netflix has saved it from cancellation. I also watched Killing Even recently and really enjoyed it.
- Writing has been hit or miss. I'm working on a long-ish (I expect it to be around 40k when it's all done) X-Men fic that I'm aiming to have done this summer. I've been working on it forever, and it's kind of a mess, but I want to finish it, damn it.
I finished a short story recently, which I'm excited about because I'm not great at short stories. My novel has been going less well, and I'm thinking of taking on a new project that feels more straightforward. I hesitate to do that, because I don't wan to be someone who doesn't finish stuff, but...the new idea actually has a plot. It has a clear beginning, middle, and end that I feel capable of writing. The other project doesn't.
Since I work full-time now, and I'm prone to feeling lazy and tired when I get home, I've taken to writing on my phone a lot during my break. The good news is, I've written a fair amount this way (about 15k words of the X-Men fic), and I feel like I've been a lot more productive. The bad news is that I've been writing out of order, in small snippets, and now it's a pain in the ass to finish the story and get it organized. I want to find a way to make this method work, because I'm so much more productive this way (and less inclined to just think about scenes instead of actually writing them down).
- IRL, I've been doing all right. 2017 and the first few months of 2018 were kind of stressful and tough on the anxiety/depression front, but I'm hanging in there and am doing pretty well now, all things considered ("all things" being the pretty demoralizing state of politics at the moment). Still working. Still on the fence about whether I feel up to trying graduate studies.

Date: 2018-06-25 12:20 am (UTC)I'm glad that White Collar still has an active fandom. It will always be one of my favorites. :) I can't say that I've been all that productive, lately. Plenty of writing, but very little finishing and posting. :P

Date: 2018-07-02 09:12 pm (UTC)Congrats on the short story!!
I wrote a few bits on my phone recently and found it really handy, but yeah it does tend to lend itself more to snippets. Hope you find a way to get it to work for you (and share it haha!)
Lucifer!! yes! Thank goodness for Netflix!!

Date: 2018-07-05 03:12 am (UTC)I saw that you've gotten into Lucifer, too! That's cool. I haven't gotten into writing fic for it too much, but I really like it. I can't wait for it to go on Netflix.
