Yuletide reveal
Jan. 3rd, 2011 10:19 pmFirst of all, xmarisolx wrote me an Arrested Development fic, Why the Bluthes Don't Celebrate Earth Day!
I wrote Fathers and Sons, a Wuthering Heights fic.
And for Yuletide Madness, I wrote a Hope Springs fic, Dreams.
Wuthering Heights is one of my favorite novels, and it was a lot of fun writing something about it. It'd been a little bit since I last read the novel, and while I'm not against re-reading books I like by any means, I always feel a little guilty about it with my long to-read list. My assignment gave me a good excuse to read it again, and focus more closely on Hareton and his relationship with Heathcliff. I was a little nervous because I felt like I could have used more time, and could have done the relationship between those characters more justice if I'd had more. But I'm not unhappy with what I did manage to write, by any means.
Seeing Hope Springs on the list of fandoms was one of the motivators for me to do Yuletide in the first place. There was exactly one person other than me who requested fic for it. On Christmas day, I was looking through the prompt list and remembered that there'd been a prompt other than my own. I didn't expect a chance to write anything for Hope Springs, so that was a cool extra. Though, I think me and my recipient may be the only people in that fandom. Ha.
I hope I have the time and interest to do Yuletide next year, because this year was my first and I knew very little about it going in. I think I managed pretty well, but I think it'd go even better now that I know how it works.
