Question regarding PayPal

For those of you who have used it, do you trust that it's fairly secure/trustworthy? I mean, it seems legit and common and all, but I'm reasonably concerned about hooking my bank account up to a third-party, or putting that information online more than I need to. So it's not something I want to just do, you know?

It seems pretty secure -- there have been occasional hacks but not widespread and I believe it's owned by ... Google? Or Yahoo? Not thrilled about that but, it's ubiquitous and unavoidable, at this point.

You can also sign up but not verify your account -- payments are not instantaneous then but I ... think ?? it's harder to hack your account that way.

I've been using PayPal for over a year and I've not had any problems, but I don't link it to my main account, I have a small, separate account that I pay into enough to cover what I might want to spend, plus a bit extra. I find that works well.

I've had an account for several years without any problems. Oh, and Paypal is owned by eBay now.

I use it alot and have never had any problems. I made sure the credit card it was linked to didnt have a crazy big balance just in case. I am fairly sure that any transactions are insured in case of problems by paypal themselves.

Thanks! I think if I were using a credit card instead of my bank account, I'd be a little less paranoid. But it still seems fairly secure, all things considered.

I've used it for years and years for thousands and thousands of $$ worth of transactions. It's a non-issue. No problems.

I used it just, and it told me something about MILITARY GRADE INCRIPTION. I was comforted.

Adding to the echoing voices above; I've used it for years with no problems. Also, my sister works in banking security, and tells me that the biggest problem with paypal accounts is when people set up a fake one in your name. The system itself is very secure.
