Jul. 29th, 2011 04:27 amI went to my city's art museum the other day, as another early Birthday treat. I'd never been, so it was a lot of fun. I don't know if I really appreciate art. I mean, I do, I'm just not into it like I am literature or film, for example. But the museum had some ancient art, and that was incredible to see. It's one thing to look at a picture of a vase from ancient Greece and know, in an abstract way, that it exists. It's another thing to see it in person, and read the plaque that says just how old it is. I ate at the museum's cafe and tried vichyssoise. I liked it, but found it a little rich. I think I'd have to acquire a taste for it before I could eat a whole lot.
When I got home, I was exhausted because I'd gotten up early to go to the museum, and stayed up late the night before. So I took a nap, and had this bizarre dream where I got called in to work and discovered that Mark Wahlberg was my new boss. Or maybe it was Wahlberg's character in The Departed. I'm not sure. But it turned out he really worked for some Torchwood-like group that was hunting aliens. But what made the dream memorable was that I was conversing in Spanish in it. I've never dreamt in Spanish before. It wasn't effortless in the dream, but still, this means I have all those Spanish classes engrained in my subconscious. It's given me more hope of someday being bilingual. Still, have to work on it more if I want that to happen.
