White Collar 4x11: "Family Business"
Jan. 24th, 2013 10:51 pmI've been under the weather, and things have been crazy with school, so I'm late reacting to this. I did watch it when it aired, though, and I was really excited for it. I think it was the only thing that kept me awake that evening.
- I love how Peter rushes over to make sure Neal is okay with James. I love it when Peter is protective.
- I don't trust James much at all. I wouldn't be surprised if we learn more to the story eventually. In any case, I have a hard time seeing him come out of this season as a regular character.
- Speaking of James, maybe I'm forgetting something, but I want to know more about what happened, exactly. It doesn't sound like James ever went to prison for murder, so did the police know he was innocent? Why did Ellen tell Neal that his father was a dirty cop, instead of the truth? Did she believe James was guilty at that time, or did she figure it was easier?
- Is there anything expensive/rare that can be counterfeited that Neal isn't an expert on?
- I liked Neal and Jones trying the bad counterfeit whiskey. It reminded me of when Neal tries the bad appetizers for Elizabeth back in season one. Jones' reaction is even the same.
- I think counterfeiting alcohol is right up Mozzie's alley.
- Drunk!Neal was fun to see. We've never actually seen him get drunk. Though, I think I like hungover!Neal better.
- I loved that Elizabeth got to play a role in the con.
- Poor Peter and his dried-out pot roast. I loved the dinner scene, though.
- Of course Mozzie knows glass blowing.
- I remember Peter's "Neal might not make it out of this one" line from the promo. I knew it was probably just referring to a normal cliffhanger, and not something really major. If I had the time, and vidding skills, I'd like to make a compilation of all the times Peter acts like Neal is done for.
- Leather jacket!Peter looks pretty badass. Also, this is the third time Peter has played a mobster. He's pretty good at it.
- I love how quickly he reacts to save Neal and Mozzie. Though, their fire bomb is pretty effective on its own.
- Neal really looks devastated when James leaves. He doesn't show strong emotion often--only when the situation is really personal and involves someone he loves. I hope he doesn't get his heart broken by James.
All in all, I enjoyed this episode, but I'm not sure it's one of my favorites, or the most memorable. But that might be partly due to how tired I was when I watched it.
And in regards to the promo for next week:
- My first thought was that I can't believe anyone would mess with Peter's beloved Ford Taurus. My second thought was that I hope they don't try to use cut brakes as an excuse for Ford product placement. Though, in all seriousness, I hope Peter's all right. I'm not expecting anything too horrible to happen to him, though.

Date: 2013-01-25 04:39 am (UTC)My thing that is driving me crazy, and I'm not even sure why, is WHERE THE HELL IS NEAL'S MOM?!?! Like, why is she not even discussed (or given a name) or anything? Does this have a point that will be revealed and awesome, or do they just not care?
So confused.
Oh well. Peter was awesome (though, my god DeKay, eat a fuckin' sandwich or something!), El was awesome and Neal and Mozzie drunk was also awesome. I would watch a whole episode of just that, just sayin'. ♥

And he might resent that she never told him the truth about his father. But it's weird how she's barely even mentioned. And there's no indication that Neal has tried to contact her, even when he started trying to learn more about his past. We don't even know if she's still alive.
You're right--Tim does look like he's lost some weight.
